He graduated, received his master's degree, and earned his doctorate from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Zagreb. In 1974, he was employed at the Mathematical Institute with the Numerical Center in Skopje. He joined the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1976 at the Department of Cybernetics. By 2000, he was elected and re-elected as a full professor of computer science. He trained abroad at several places, including IBM in Germany, the universities of Tsukuba and Kanazawa in Japan, the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, USA, and the Center for Information Technology in Bonn, Germany. He directed his scholarly efforts toward pioneering achievements in the development of computer science: His contributions to the early days of computer science in Macedonia are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1968: He wrote and delivered the first lecture entitled \"Abstract Automata,\" which was inspired by Professor Gogi Chupona, a work that can be considered the beginning of computer science in Macedonia.<\/li>\n<li>1975: He led an outsourcing project that resulted in a database containing 150,000 fields.<\/li>\n<li>1978: Delivered to an external client a product from ETF, a digital programmer, thereby changing the stereotype that ETF should only produce studies and expert analyses. This product is patented.<\/li>\n<li>1978: Founded a laboratory for the development of digital controllers and biomedical devices.<\/li>\n<li>1980: He exhibited his own creations at an international fair.<\/li>\n<li>1978: Initiated the first symposium in the field of computer science in Macedonia.<\/li>\n<li>1980: He initiated the first professional society in the field of computer science, the Society for Bio-Cybernetics.<\/li>\n<li>1979: He was one of the founders of the Institute of Computer Technology and Informatics.<\/li>\n<li>1979: He participated in the development of the first curriculum for computer science studies at ETF, enabling the Institute to expand beyond its initially two members.<\/li>\n<li>He is a pioneer in the fields of artificial intelligence, robotics, and bioinformatics in Macedonia.<\/li>\n<li>1981: Becomes the first member of the IEEE in the field of computer science from Macedonia.<\/li>\n<li>1982: Implemented the first system with multiprogramming and multitasking software.<\/li>\n<li>1983: He implemented the first robot in Macedonia.<\/li>\n<li>1984: received the first state-funded project in the field of computer science in Macedonia.<\/li>\n<li>1985: Published the first scientific paper in the IEEE Transactions on Computer Science in Macedonia.<\/li>\n<li>1985: He was a guest editor for the journal Automatika.<\/li>\n<li>1988: achieved control of a robot using brain signals, a result potentially the most significant in computer science in Macedonia; the next such global achievement was realized 11 years later in the United States.<\/li>\n<li>1990: He implemented the first ETF information system based on personal computers, and<\/li>\n<li>1993: the first information system in Macedonia based on an Oracle database, the outpatient system of the Clinical Center.<\/li>\n<li>1997: He organized the first university student computer science competition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Since 2001, he has worked in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at South Carolina State University in the United States as a tenured professor of computer science. He is engaged as an expert for the European Union.
