He graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Skopje in 1980 and received his master's degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade in 1988. He earned his doctorate from the University \u201cSt. Cyril and Methodius\u201d in Skopje in 1989. He was employed at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Skopje from 1986 to 1998, holding the positions of assistant (1986), associate professor (1990), and full professor (1995). He has been re-employed at the Institute for Computer Technology and Informatics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (which has since been renamed the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology) since 2007, holding the rank of full professor. From January 1, 1992, to June 1, 1993, he was at the University of California, Berkeley. Since 1998, he has been employed at the University of California, San Diego, first as an Associate Researcher, and since 2000 in the scientific title of Researcher (equivalent to a full professor). He has been a regular member of MANAU since 2007. He is the author of more than 100 scientific articles published in over 20 different journals, 22 of which were published in IEEE journals. According to the Science Citation Index, his papers had been cited more than 4,000 times as of 2009. He has been the editor of 3 books, an editor for the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems (from 2002 to 2004 and 2006 to 2008), and since 2007, an editor for the Journal of the Franklin Institute. He is the author of 6 patents approved in the EU and USA. He has been the principal investigator for multiple projects, and in 2009 he was the principal (co-)investigator for 4 projects funded by the Republic of Macedonia (MANU fund), the European Union (FP6), the USA (National Science Foundation), and China (Hong Kong Research Grant Council). He was elected a Fellow of the IEEE in 2006.
