The Path Is Open for the Construction of a World-Class EuroHPC Supercomputer in Greece

A hosting agreement has been signed between the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking and GRNET in Greece, where DAEDALUS, a new mid-range supercomputer, will be hosted.

DAEDALUS will be operated by GRNET and is expected to become available in early 2025. It will be capable of performing more than 30 petaflops, or 30 quadrillion calculations per second.

HPC_DAEDALUS will serve a wide range of users from the scientific community, industry and the public sector in Greece and throughout Europe. The supercomputer will power new applications in areas including engineering, chemistry and health sciences, and will be used for visualisation and the solution of scientific problems.

DAEDALUS is funded by EuroHPC, through the European Union’s Digital Europe Programme, and Greece. Cyprus, Montenegro and North Macedonia participate in the project as members of the DAEDALUS consortium.
