Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for the 2026/2027 Academic Year
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Embassy of Switzerland in Skopje has the honor to inform that the Swiss Government, through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students, is offering 10-15 excellence scholarships for students from Central and Eastern European countries and Caucasus countries for the academic year 2026/2027.
These scholarships provide highly qualified young graduates from all fields with the opportunity to pursue doctoral or postdoctoral research in Switzerland at one of the publicly funded universities or recognized institutions (Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences, and the two Federal Institutes of Technology, as well as the four research institutes).
Three types of scholarships are available:
- research scholarships;
- PhD scholarships;
- Postdoctoral scholarships.
The offer does not include Scholarships for Bachelor's and Master's studies.
General information on the three scholarship types valid for North Macedonia can be obtained on the website of the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI): https://www.sbfi.admin.ch/en/swiss-government-excellence-scholarships.
Starting this year, applications must be submitted through the GO ESKAS (grants online ESKAS) tool. Instructions and access to the tool are available on the SERI website: https://www.sbfi.admin.ch/en/swiss-government-excellence-scholarships-at-a-glance. The deadline for submitting applications for North Macedonia is November 10, 2025.
