EKO-SVEST Competition

Are games your passion, and would you like to develop mobile games while recognising that climate change is not a global conspiracy?
“CREATE A GAME FOR THE PLANET” is a competition that gives participants an opportunity to compete for a prize by 1300€ creating a mobile/smartphone game on climate change and the environment.
The competition will be held during the weekend of 14–16 October 2022and forms part of Phase 1 of the Game Jam Plus Macedonia 2022–2023 event.
Registration is available at the following link: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/430109819047
The competition is held under the patronage of the Environmental Research and Information Centre Eko-svest Skopje and is financially supported through the project “Civil Society Organisations in Action for Climate Change”, funded by the Government of Sweden.
Conceptually, the competition is similar to a prize competition on a specified theme, and the award represents remuneration for a fully developed game. The game may be casual, hyper-casual or in any genre of your choice.
Only one game will win —that is, one game prototype developed during the 48-hour Game Jam Plus competition. Over the following two months, the game must complete the development, testing, approval and publication processes for Google Play and the App Store, for which a cooperation agreement will be concluded with the competition patron. During development, teams will be able to consult and cooperate with the Game Jam Plus Macedonia mentors.
Competitors may register to participate at the physical venue at Kasarna HUB Ohrid or work virtually from any location within North Macedonia.
No participation fee is required for this competitionat either the physical or virtual venues. The fee is covered by the patron. To qualify for the fee waiver, registered participants must work exclusively on a mobile game concerning climate change and the environment.
Teams may comprise no more than four participants. We recommend arriving with a pre-formed team of two, three or four members, although individual participation is also permitted.
Participants must be at least 17 years old. Persons under 17 may participate only as part of a team that includes members over 17.
The winner of this competition must also continue to compete in the European semi-final of Game Jam Plus. The other games entered in the competition will likewise be considered for progression to the incubation and semi-final stages of Game Jam Plus.
All participants working at the physical venue will receive six meals, snacks, non-alcoholic beverages and coffee, as well as internet access, recreational activities and other facilities necessary for uninterrupted work. Lessons will be delivered and mentors will assist and train participants at both the physical and virtual venues.
Enter the competition and express your creativity. Contribute to more effective action on climate change and environmental protection. Every action matters: #TogetherForClimateAction!
*The event is financially supported through the project “Civil Society Organisations in Action for Climate Change”, funded by the Government of Sweden.
