Dr. Anastas Mishev
He was born in Ohrid in 1971 and completed primary and secondary school there. In 1990, he enrolled at the Military Technical Faculty in Zagreb, where he completed the first year of study. From the 1991/92 academic year, he continued his studies at the Institute of Informatics within the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje. He graduated in 1996 with the title Graduate Engineer in Informatics. After graduation, he worked as an external associate – programmer at several software companies on the development of large information systems. He completed his military service in 1997. In the 1997/98 academic year, he enrolled in postgraduate studies at the Institute of Informatics, completing them in 2002 after defending the master’s thesis “Register Renaming”, supervised by Professor Marjan Gusev. In 2009, he obtained his doctorate with the dissertation ““Workflows in Grid Computing—Management, Execution and Scheduling”, supervised by Professor Margita Kon-Popovska. He was appointed an expert associate in 1998, a junior teaching assistant in 2000, and a teaching assistant in 2003 at the Department of Software Engineering within the Institute of Informatics. In 2009, he was appointed assistant professor at the Institute of Informatics. From 1999 to 2003, he served as Acting Head of the Institute’s Computing Centre, and in 2005 he was appointed Head of the Computing Centre at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. In 2009, he was again appointed Head of the Computing Centre at the Institute of Informatics, a position he continues to hold.
He also works as an instructor at the Institute of Informatics’ regional Cisco Academy. He teaches the following courses: Data Structures and Algorithms, Software Quality and Testing, Microprocessors and Microcomputers, Computer Network Design, Wireless Networks, Modern Computer Systems, Advanced Algorithms, Grid and Scientific Computing, Systems Integration, Software Engineering for Critical Systems, and others. He has conducted practical classes in Computer Architecture, Microprocessors and Microcomputers, Programming Languages, Data Structures, Computer Network Design, Computer Networks, the Internet, Internet Applications, Interactive Applications, Computer-Assisted Learning, Modern Computer Systems, and Databases for informatics students; Introduction to Informatics for geography students; and Introduction to Informatics for students of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and Food and the Faculty of Philosophy. His research focuses on infrastructures for collaborative computing and research, particularly grid and high-performance computing systems. His objective is to make these systems accessible to all potential users, especially research communities, so that their considerable potential can be fully utilised. He has also conducted research in computer architecture and networks, software engineering, internet technologies and e-learning. He has participated in more than 25 international projects funded by TEMPUS, PHARE, DAAD and the Framework Programmes, related to the development of information infrastructure and informatics education. He is currently the national coordinator for North Macedonia of the FP7 HP-SEE project in high-performance computing. He has authored more than 35 scientific and professional papers published in international journals and conference proceedings and has delivered more than 25 presentations at scientific and professional conferences and workshops. He is a member of several professional associations in informatics, including IEEE and ICT-ACT.
