Dr. Biljana Tojtovska

She was born in 1980 in Skopje. She completed elementary and high school in Skopje. She was a member of the Macedonian team at the International Mathematical Olympiad for high school students. She participated in several Balkan Olympiads and World Olympiads, where she won honorable mentions and two bronze medals. In 1999, she enrolled in the Theoretical Mathematics program at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje. She graduated in 2004 with a grade point average of 9.88. As a DAAD scholarship recipient, she continued her Master's studies in Stochastics and Financial Mathematics at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern in Germany. In 2007, under the mentorship of Prof. Ralf Korn, she completed her master's thesis titled “Martingale decompositions with application in Finance,” for which she received a grade of 10. She graduated with a 10.0 GPA and, for her achievements during her master's studies, received the award for the best student at the Institute of Mathematics. During her time in Germany, she also worked on the “Asset Liability Management” project at the ITWM Fraunhofer Institute. She participated in various seminars, including a workshop organized by Credit Suisse in Frankfurt on the topic of “Equity Derivatives.“ After returning to Macedonia, she worked at the Ministry of Finance in the research department of the Public Debt Sector of the Republic of Macedonia. She began her work at the Institute of Informatics in 2009, when she was appointed a junior assistant. She teaches several subjects: Linear Algebra, Discrete Structures, Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Information Theory, Operations Research, Numerical Computation. Her research interests include probability and statistics, stochastic differential equations, and stochastic modeling with an emphasis on their application in other fields (biology, medicine, finance, computer science). For her doctoral research, she is working under the mentorship of Prof. Svetlana Janković on the topic ”Stability of Stochastic Neural Network Models." She has published several papers and presented at numerous international seminars, conferences, and workshops. She is part of the organization of the mathematics competitions in the Republic of Macedonia.
