Dr. Igor Trajkovski

Dr. Igor Trajkovski graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University "St. Cyril and Methodius" – Skopje, from the Institute of Informatics in 2001 with a high grade point average (9.53). In 2003, he enrolled in a master's program at the University of Saarland in Germany (University of Saarland & Max Planck Institute for Informatics, Saarbrücken, Germany) and in October 2004, he earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. He continued his studies and scientific research at the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia. (Jozef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana, Slovenia) at the Department of Knowledge Technologies, and at the International Graduate School of the same institution, where on December 14, 2007, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation and earned the academic title of Doctor of Science.

Continuously from 2001 to the present, Dr. Trajkovski has been professionally engaged, first as a demonstrator at the Institute of Informatics in Skopje (1999-2001), and then as a research assistant at the University of Stuttgart, Germany (02/2002 – 09/2003), as a software development specialist at T-Mobile, Skopje (10/2004 – 09/2005), as a research assistant at the Jožef Stefan Institute, Ljubljana (10/2005 – 12/2007), Software Engineer at Google (05/2007 – 09/2007 and 05/2008 – 09/2008), Associate Professor at New York University in Skopje (02/2008 – 11/2009) and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (02/2010 – 09/2011). He is also the creator and founder of the largest Macedonian news aggregator, Time.mk (07/2008 – present).

He has participated in several national and international programming competitions and Olympiads, qualifying for the World Final of the ACM Programming Contest (Orlando, USA, 2000) and winning medals (Bronze medal, Balkan Olympiad in Informatics, Cyprus, 1996). He is the recipient of scholarships for studies, for talented students, as well as an award for the best student of the Institute of Informatics, PMF-Skopje.

Dr. Igor Trajkovski's research is in the fields of machine learning, bioinformatics, genetic data analysis, parallel algorithms, information retrieval, and statistical processing of natural languages. His doctoral dissertation, as well as his master's thesis, are in the field of bioinformatics, and his results have been published in numerous scientific papers in significant international conferences and scientific journals.
