Dr. Ivan Chorbev

He was born in 1980 in Ohrid. He graduated and earned his master's degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Skopje in 2004 and 2006, respectively. He received his doctorate from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in Skopje in 2009. During his university studies, he was continuously awarded for his academic achievements. As the top student in his graduating class, he was honored by the Faculty, the University “St. Cyril and Methodius,” and other organizations and foundations, including the Association of Engineers of Macedonia, from which he received the Golden Ring award. He gained his first work experience at AD “Macedonian Telecommunications” – MTnet, in the software and web development department, from 2003 to 2005. He began working at the Institute of Computer Science and Informatics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Skopje in 2005, first as a teaching assistant and then as a junior assistant starting in 2006. He was promoted to assistant professor in 2008 and was elected associate professor in 2009. His teaching duties included courses in structured programming, object-oriented programming, programming methodologies, web design, computer graphics, computer animation, etc.
As part of his scientific research work to date, as of 2011 he has participated in the preparation of more than 35 research papers published in books, journals, and peer-reviewed conference proceedings. His research interests include combinatorial optimization, heuristic algorithms, constraint programming, web programming technologies, software testing, the application of informatics in medicine and telemedicine systems, medical expert systems, knowledge extraction, and machine learning. He is the author of one university textbook. He is a reviewer of one university textbook.
As an IT consultant, he was engaged in the study and development of multiple application solutions for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, university information systems, and web content management systems (CMS), Document Management Systems (DMS), online payment systems, electronic attendance tracking, banking applications, and the oil industry. He participated as an IT consultant in projects funded by the European Union (FP6, FP7, TEMPUS) and non-governmental organizations (NDI).
