Dr. Monika Simjanoska
She was born in 1988 in Zagreb, Republic of Croatia. She graduated in 2012 from the Institute of Informatics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in Skopje, after which she enrolled that same year in a master's program at the Faculty of Informatics and Computer Engineering in Skopje, in the field of intelligent systems. Her master's thesis, titled „Bayesian Classification of Gene Expression in Colorectal Cancer Obtained with DNA Microarray Technology Implemented as a SaaS in the Cloud“ in 2013, earning a Master's degree in Informatics and Computer Engineering in the field of Intelligent Systems.
She enrolled in doctoral studies in September 2014 and in 2019 defended her doctoral dissertation titled „Processing Bioelectric and Bioacoustic Signals for Predicting Medical Conditions,“ earning the academic degree of Doctor of Informatics.
Since 2010, she has been employed as a demonstrator, first at the Institute of Informatics at PMF and then at FINKI. For a short period, she worked as an assistant at „Goce Delchev“ University in Štip. Since December 2017, she has been working at FINKI. During her work, she has been actively involved in several national and international projects. She is the recipient of an award for the best paper presented at the 25th DAAAD Symposium in Vienna, Austria, as well as the FESTO Young Scientist Award. She has held several research stays at the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where she had the opportunity to work in the field of developing methods for processing biomedical signals. He has also held short study stays at UGA in Grenoble, France, and at UCD in Dublin, Ireland. He is the author and co-author of more than 50 papers, published in conferences and in recognized international journals.
Her primary interest is focused on the development of intelligent systems in various fields such as biomedical signal processing, bioinformatics, cloud computing, biosensors, and natural language processing, and more recently, robotics and microprocessor systems as part of her teaching engagement.
