Dr. Vancho Kusakatov

He was born in 1947 in Štip. He completed his elementary and high school education in Štip and Skopje. In the 1966/67 academic year, he enrolled at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Machinery in Skopje, graduating in 1972. Immediately after graduating, he was hired as a trainee at the Mathematical Institute with a Numerical Center in Skopje, and in October 1973, he was appointed as a professional associate there. During this period, he pursued postgraduate studies in the field of numerical mathematics, and completed them in 1975. In 1982, as an assistant at the Faculty of Mathematics in Skopje, he earned his master's degree by defending the thesis “Non-equidistant Difference Schemes for Solving Partial Differential Equations of First and Second Order.” In 1985, he was at Moscow's M. V. Lomonosov University, where he completed a 6-month specialization in numerical mathematics, and in 1989, he was at the „Milan Vidmar“ Institute in Ljubljana, where he worked on problems in the field of mathematical modeling and optimization of power systems, which is his main scientific interest. In 1993, he defended his doctoral dissertation, „Optimizacija obratovanja hidro-termicnega sistema,“ at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Ljubljana. In October 1993, he was appointed associate professor at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics in the field of numerical mathematics and computer science. He was appointed Associate Professor in 1998 and Full Professor in 2003. As an assistant and later as a lecturer, Dr. Vanco Kusakataov taught various subjects in mathematics and computer science. (numerical computing with programming, computer programming, numerical methods, numerical analysis, data structures, computer graphics, Mathematics 1 and 2, functions of several variables, Introduction to Informatics, and others). In the graduate studies in computer science, he was in charge of the course “Methods of Optimization and Implementation.” Dr. Vancho Kusakatov has published numerous professional and scientific papers in journals and proceedings, both domestically and internationally. He was a collaborator on several research projects and led the "Mathematical Modeling and Optimization" project. He is the author of a university textbook, a computer science textbook for elementary education, course materials, manuals, and similar works. He was the head of the Institute of Informatics (1997/98-1998/99), editor-in-chief of the journal BIT+, a member of the Association of Informaticians of Macedonia, as well as a member of several commissions at the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Macedonia.
