She was born in 1955 in Struga. She completed her secondary education in Skopje in 1974. She graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics in Skopje in May 1979. She pursued postgraduate studies at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton, USA (1981–1983), where she earned a Master of Arts in Mathematical Sciences. at the Institute of Mathematics of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, she defended her master's thesis, “An Investigation of the Error Probability of a Set of Representative Samples in Discriminant Analysis,” under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Georgi Chupona, she defended her doctoral dissertation, “Algebraic Combinatorial Methods in Sample Theory and Experimental Design,” in 1998 at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, earning her doctorate in Mathematical Sciences. From 1979 to 1980, she was a high school mathematics teacher, and from 1980 to 1983, an assistant at SUNY Binghamton, USA, from 1984 to 1987 a specialist at the Information System Institute of the City of Skopje, from 1987 to 1991 a junior assistant at the II of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, from 1991 to 1998 an assistant, from 1998 to 2003 an associate professor, and has been an Associate Professor since 2003. She has undertaken specialization and training: from 1981 to 1983 at the State University of New York at Binghamton, USA; at Carleton University, Ottawa in 1990; at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics “Abdus Salam” in 1999 and at the Institute of Actuarial Science, Oxford, United Kingdom in 2004. As an undergraduate instructor, she taught the following subjects: Mathematical Statistics; Sets, Vectors and Matrices; Analytic Geometry in Computer Science; Statistics, Analysis and Time Series; and Sample Theory in Mathematics. Mathematical Methods in Chemistry; Statistics for Geographers; Algebra in the Mathematics-Physics program; Introduction to Programming 1, Introduction to Programming 2 in the Technical Informatics program at the Faculty of Technology in Bitola. At the graduate level, she has taught: Data Processing, Multidimensional Statistical Analysis, and System Reliability Theory in the Informatics and Mathematics programs; Mathematics with Statistics and Biostatistics in the Biology program; and Population Genetics in the Genetic Engineering program, MANU. She is a mentor for master's theses and a member of committees for the defense of multiple master's theses and doctoral dissertations. For teaching purposes, she has prepared lecture scripts on: Mathematical Statistics, Mathematical Methods in Chemistry, and Vectors and Matrices, which are available on the II website. Dr. Zhaneta Popesk's main scientific focus is the development and application of statistical methods in various fields. Since 1996, she has been a statistics consultant at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the MANAU. She has participated in 6 domestic and 3 international projects and has managed one project. She has presented at numerous international and domestic congresses, symposia, and conferences. She is a member of the SDMM, the Association of Statisticians of Macedonia (president), the Mathematical Association of South Eastern Europe, and the Council of Experts of MASIT.
