MKSafeNet: Strengthening Children’s Digital Safety in Macedonia
The project started on September 1, 2024 MKSafeNet, funded by Digital Europe, in which the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FINKI) at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje (UKIM) is one of the key partners. The project aims to improve national capacities for providing advice, support and protection to children, parents, teachers and other stakeholders regarding children’s digital safety.
Key project objectives
- Establishing a National Safer Internet Center (SIC): The center will provide age-appropriate safety information, online education, public-awareness tools and counseling services.
- Development of age-appropriate resources: The project will create and disseminate online safety resources for different age groups, which will be integrated into curricula through workshops, school visits and other activities.
- Support for an internet safety helpline: In cooperation with the First Children’s Embassy in the World – Megjashi, a technically robust helpline will be established to provide timely support and counseling.
- Training of professionals and parents: The project will offer specialized training programmes for teachers, parents and other professionals to improve digital literacy.
- Information exchange network: The project will facilitate the exchange of information among local, national and European stakeholders on emerging online risks, through technology platforms and research networks.
