10. Objectives of the course programme (competences) Solid knowledge of the fundamentals of information and communication technologies, their creation, current state, and future; how computers work, the basics of the Web, image, video, and animation processing; the key areas of information and communication technologies and their impact: the ability to manipulate text, tables, charts, images, audio, and video.
11. Course content History of computer science and the first computers. Analog and digital signals. Number representation: bits, bytes. Computer architecture and organization: processors, memory, peripherals. Internet, IP addresses, routing, Ethernet, Wi-Fi. Software and its execution. Overview of computer security. Digital data: images, videos, audio, compression. Overview of areas in computer science and engineering.
12. Learning methods Lectures using presentations, interactive lectures, exercises (using equipment and software packages), teamwork, case studies, guest lecturers, independent preparation and defense of a project assignment and a seminar paper.
