Objectives of the course programme (competences)

Introducing students to current techniques for the analysis and design of information systems (IS). Delving into an IS development case study using current methodologies. Equipping students with the practical skills to analyze user requirements and create effective models throughout all phases of an IS development, with an emphasis on the analysis and design phases. Upon completion of the course, students are expected to demonstrate knowledge of using contemporary approaches in the analysis and design of information systems.

Course content

Functions of a business and systems analyst. Definition of information systems and its components. Conceptual paradigms for the analysis and design of information systems. Feasibility study. Specifics of the information system design process as a project. Data and process modeling. Writing specifications. Approaches to initial quality assurance in information systems design. Information systems design. An overview of the agile approach to information systems implementation. Basic principles of specification by example.
