| 10. | Objectives of the course programme (competences) | The course is a support course and is necessary for introducing the concepts of integrals, applications of integrals, sequences, and series, which are required in some upper-level courses. | ||||||||||||
| 11. | Course content | Integration: indefinite integral, integration by substitution. Definite integral. Fundamental theorem of calculus. Integration techniques: partial integration, trigonometric integrals, trigonometric substitutions, integration of fractional-rational functions. Application of integrals to calculate: area, volume, arc length, area of a rotational surface. Series and sequences. Differential equations: solving equations with separable variables, linear differential equations of the first order, homogeneous and nonhomogeneous linear differential equations of the second order. | ||||||||||||
| 12. | Learning methods | Lectures using presentations, interactive lectures, exercises (using equipment and software packages), teamwork, case studies, guest lecturers, independent preparation and defense of a project assignment and a seminar paper. | ||||||||||||
