| 10. | Objectives of the course programme (competences) | The subject is a support course and is necessary for introducing the concepts of function, limit, and derivative, which are required in almost all upper-level courses. | ||||||||||||
| 11. | Course content | Definition of a function. Properties of functions. Operations on functions. Rules. Families of functions. (2) Inverse functions. Inverse trigonometric functions. Exponential and logarithmic functions and their Inverse functions. Limits. Calculation of limits. Continuity. Definition of the derivative. Techniques of differentiation. Derivative of a composite function. Tangent and differential approximation. L'Hôpital's rule. Application of derivatives: monotonicity of functions, convexity and concavity of functions, local extrema. Investigation of properties and sketching the graph of a function. Global extrema. |
