Objectives of the course programme (competences)

Acquisition of knowledge and competencies in the Macedonian language.

Course content

Theoretical foundations of speech culture. Theoretical foundations of speech culture (speaking). Speech culture in the service of communicative perfection. The use of the linguistic structure of the Macedonian language in the humanities and natural sciences. Language as a system of signs in interpersonal communication. Speech as the successive distribution and organization of linguistic signs. Speech activity as the totality of the psycho-physical processes of speech realization. The concept of text: oral and written realization of the text. The content of the text. Structure of speech. The relationship between speech and language. The relationship between speech and thought. The relationship between speech and reality. The relationship between speech and the recipient (addressee). The relationship between speech and non-speech structures. Correctness of speech. Phonetic norms. Accent norms. Grammatical norms. The concept of standard language. The relationship between standard language and dialect.
(1) Qualities of successful speech. Accuracy of speech. Logicality of speech. Clarity of speech. Expressiveness of speech. Richness of speech. Appropriateness of speech.
(1) Composition of the presentation. Language styles and the culture of speech.
(1) Style and its types. Stylistic figures and tropes. The communicative characteristic of speech and the language styles.
(1) Specifically regarding language styles: artistic, scientific, business, journalistic, administrative, and conversational. The culture of speech in practical use.
(1) The culture of speech in scientific communication. The culture of speech in pedagogical practice. The culture of speech in public speaking. The culture of speech and other sciences: psychology, logic, ethics, communication theory, etc. The psychophysical and moral characteristics of the speaker. (1) Psychology of the speaker. Psychology of the audience.

Learning methods

Lectures using presentations, interactive lectures, exercises (using equipment and software packages), teamwork, case studies, guest lecturers, independent preparation and defense of a project assignment and a seminar paper.
