10. Objectives of the course programme (competences) Familiarizing students with the current elements of the field of digital libraries (DL): Fundamentals and architectures of digital libraries, technologies, management, organization and development of digital resources, knowledge presentation and its discovery (information gathering), metadata, schemas and standards, and relevant intellectual property rights. Depending on current interest, students will be introduced to specific digital library application software, operational practices, and their evaluation. Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to demonstrate knowledge of the basic elements of a digital library, technologies for its development and construction, methods of application, and its management and organization.
