10. Objectives of the course programme (competences) The goal of the course is to examine the fundamental principles and best practices for technology development and transfer. To understand the concept of sustainable development, which includes its impact on nature and society. To understand the 17 Sustainable Development Goals defined by the United Nations and to identify ways to achieve them. Understanding the opportunities for applying new technologies such as mobile devices, drones, and sensors in areas like agriculture, communications, education, the economy, healthcare, governments, and gender equality. Understanding the concepts of social innovation and social entrepreneurship. Application of human-centered solution design methodologies. Understanding the design thinking methodology.
11. Course content The role of technological innovations in the development of humanity and the world.
Development of technological capacities and transfer of technologies.
Sustainable development. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that are intended to transform the world into a better place to live, with an emphasis on developing countries.
Determining how technology can influence the development of agriculture, communications, education, the economy, healthcare, governments, and gender equality. Examples of new technologies for solving problems: (mobile devices, social media, drones, sensors, …)
Social innovation and social entrepreneurship
Human-centered design. Design disposition methodology: (1) Empathy (2) Defining (3) Idea generation (4) Prototyping (5) Testing (6) Implementation
12. Learning methods Lectures using presentations, interactive lectures, exercises (using equipment and software packages), teamwork, case studies, guest lecturers, independent preparation and defense of a project assignment and a seminar paper.
