| 10. | Objectives of the course programme (competences) | The goal of the course is to familiarize students with the fundamental principles of designing computer systems that involve human-computer interaction. To that end, students will be introduced to the process of designing interactive systems, the design phases (requirements gathering and analysis, prototyping, implementation, and usability testing). Upon completion of the course, the student is expected to demonstrate knowledge of the process and steps for designing systems that involve human-computer interaction and to be able to independently or as part of a team implement a simple interactive system design project. | ||||||||||||
| 11. | Course content | Lectures: 1. Introduction, terminology, history. 2. Human in human-computer interaction, physical characteristics, cognitive aspects. 3. Usability, principles, standards, accessibility, user experience. 4. Human-computer interaction design process, approaches, and characteristics of the design process. 5. Requirements gathering, interviewing techniques, observation, defining personas and scenarios. 6. Design representation, sketches, storyboards, prototypes, low-fidelity prototypes, high-fidelity prototypes. 7. Task analysis. 8. Principles of interaction design, visual interface elements, error handling, help, and documentation. 9. User interface evaluation, methods and techniques for evaluation, evaluation measures, usability heuristics, and principles for usability testing |

| 12. | Learning methods | Lectures using presentations, interactive lectures, exercises (using equipment and software packages), teamwork, case studies, guest lectures, independent preparation and defense of a project assignment and a seminar paper. | ||||||||||||
