This is a three-month paid internship with the possibility of extending the duration to six months. The internship is an excellent opportunity available to 3rd and 4th-year students to gain experience in back-end development while working alongside experienced professionals.

Overview of the role:

As a Backend Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of robust backend systems using Java, Spring, Quarkus, and MySQL. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will work on real-world projects that support our mission to deliver scalable and efficient solutions.

This internship will also provide hands-on exposure to Agile methodologies, enabling you to collaborate with cross-functional teams, participate in sprints, and contribute to the delivery of high-quality software solutions. The role is designed to help you develop critical technical skills, understand industry best practices, and gain valuable experience in backend development within a dynamic and supportive environment.

What you’ll do:

• Assist in developing, testing, and deploying backend services using Java, Spring, and Quarkus frameworks.
• Work on tasks with MySQL to assist in design and manage relational databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with team members during Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Debug and resolve issues in backend services, contributing to the overall reliability of the system.
• Assist in documenting code, processes, and technical decisions to support knowledge sharing and future development.
• Learn and apply best practices in coding standards, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.

What you’ll bring:

• Basic knowledge of Java programming.
• Familiarity with backend frameworks like Spring or Quarkus is a plus.
• Understanding of relational databases, preferably MySQL.
• Enthusiasm for learning Agile methodologies and working in a collaborative team environment.

Гостинското предавање на тема Artificial Intelligence in Cryptography: Challenges and Opportunities ќе се одржи на 24.02.2023 со почеток од 15:00 часот во Амфитеатарот на Финки од страна на Stjepan Picek.

Bio: Stjepan Picek is an associate professor at Radboud University, The Netherlands. His research interests are security/cryptography, machine learning, and evolutionary computation. Prior to the associate professor position, Stjepan was an assistant professor at TU Delft, and a postdoctoral researcher at MIT, USA and KU Leuven, Belgium. Stjepan finished his PhD in 2015 with a topic on cryptology and evolutionary computation techniques. Stjepan also has several years of experience working in industry and government. Up to now, Stjepan has given more than 30 invited talks and published more than 150 refereed papers. He is a  program committee member and reviewer for a number of conferences and journals, and a member of several professional societies. His work has been featured in the mainstream media and on popular technology blogs.

We are excited to announce the launching of our 2nd internship program for aspiring backend developers at Metergram, from June 1^st to August 31^st 2023.

Our rewarding and challenging internship program offers two tracks: 

• one focused on .NET and Azure
• the other one focused on Node.js (JavaScript,TypeScript) and AWS

We welcome highly motivated .NET / Node.js interns who will work closely with our experienced developers and gain hands-on experience in developing applications using top-notch technologies using the C# and JavaScript/TypeScript programming languages.

In the scope of the Horizon Europe INDUSAC project students of all programmes are invited to join 3- and 6-member international teams and solve the company's challenges, while they also:

• gain experience in working with companies,
• create an international network,
• receive up to 1000 EUR gross per student.

Currently, more than 70 different challenges from Slovenian and European companies are published on the platform INDUSAC and they cover different topics from the fields of economy, ICT and natural sciences.

Further steps:

1. Students or Researchers select a challenge,
2. Students or Researchers register on the platform (the registration form is different),
3. within a specific challenge join the Slack community, where they first select the channel with the name of the specific challenge and then can connect with other students. The team can be formed also outside Slack.
4. Once an international team is formed (3 different countries, 60% from widening and associated countries), the team (at least one female or male student) prepare a joint Motivation letter (short CV) and submit it to the company through the platform by 11 February 2024.
5. If the Motivation letter is approved by the company, students may begin solving the challenge presumably at the beginning of March 2024.

The first deadline is 11 February 2024, when the international team should submit only a joint Motivation letter (short CV).
