10. Objectives of the course programme (competences) The goal is to understand how the human brain works. Students will become acquainted with the theoretical and empirical perspectives that define cognitive science. They will become familiar with research on the nature of mental processes such as perception, thinking, memory, imagination, attention, language, intelligence, decision-making, and problem-solving. Students will learn about the tools drawn from experimental psychology, developmental science, computer science, linguistics, visualization, philosophy, anthropology, behaviorism, and neurology. The course will connect all these approaches that are linked in cognitive science.
11. Course content What is cognitive science. Evolution of the mind. Visual representation of the neurons in
the human brain. Perception, visual cognition, thinking, memory, fantasy,
attention, emotions, linguistics, intelligence, decision-making, problem-solving
problems. Learning, learning agents, learning taxonomies. Neurophysiology and
Brain damage. Past, present, and future of cognitive science.
