Subject goals and competencies:


After completing the course, the student is expected to understand the problems of network administration and to know to apply them to the methods and tools of administration with communication networks.

Subject content:


(1) Introduction. What is NM, why is it needed, challenges and evolution (1) Dimensions, life cycle, interoperability, layers, functions, processes and organization (2) Basic concepts, NM architecture, device management, agents, MIB, systems administration, network administration (2) Protocols, communication schemes, SNMP, CLI, syslog, netconf, netflow, IPFIX (1) Functions, discovery of devices and configurations, data storage, monitoring (2) FCAPS - fault, configuration, accounting, performance, security management (1) Integration, opportunities, perspectives, challenges, approaches (1) NGOSS & Framework, eTOM, BPF, SID, TAM (2) SNMP, organizational and functional model, information model, communication model, administration and security, v1, 2, 3. USM, VACM (1) Management in an NFV/SDN environment
